Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen observed at Bauddisson Island, Kavieng District , 1–50 m depth, St. T 4, on 31 Oct. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen. WAM material (WAM P.28186-008, 9 specimens, Kavieng). Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.— General distribution: Red Sea east to Micronesia , Fiji and Tonga , south to northern Australia ; possibly a complex of several species. Found on steep dropoffs of lagoon and seaward reef slopes, 8–40 m depth. Marine .
