Status at New Ireland. Reported from islands off Kavieng, New Ireland in original description by Lachner & Karnella (1980: 27), based on USNM 217589 ( paratype) . NTUM 11444 ( 1 specimen, St. KR174, 25 June 2014) ; NTUM 11483 ( 1 specimen, St. KB28, 11 June 2014) .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: eastern Indonesia east to Marshall Islands and Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found in coastal and seaward coral reef habitats, 1– 18 m depth. Marine.
