Status at New Ireland. New record, based on WAM material (WAM P.28185-009, 1 specimen, Kavieng District ).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.— General distribution: Madagascar and Seychelles east to Philippines and Vanuatu , north to southern Japan , south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in lower reaches of freshwater streams and rivers including estuaries, 0–5 m depth. Freshwater, transitional water and marine .
