Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Steindachner (1879: 17–19).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 0.—General distribution: Cocos-Keeling Islands and Indonesia east to Marshall Islands and Tuvalu, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found in lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 3–30 m depth. Marine.
