Paracheilinus filamentosus Allen 1974 —Fliamented flasherwrasse

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed in Kavieng Lagoon by Jeff Kinch during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in 2013 (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 15); a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island , off eastern New Hanover , at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Palau and Solomon Islands, north to Sabah ( Malaysia) and Philippines, south to northern Queensland ( Australia). Seaward coral reef habitats and edges of deeper channels, 5–35 m depth. Marine.
