Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen from off Kulinus Island, Kavieng District, 10–11 m depth, St. KR 62, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken off Nubilus Island , off southeastern New Hanover , at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014. WAM material (WAM P.28161-007, 1 specimen, Kavieng).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Brunei and Malaysia east to Caroline Islands, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Samoa, north to Philippines and Taiwan, south to Queensland ( Australia). Found on coral rubble near coral reefs, 5–35 m depth. Marine.
