Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Matanalaua River, New Hanover as Equula decora by Munro (1958: 196).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: India east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to Taiwan, south to northern Australia. Schooling in coastal waters, 1–30 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
