Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group, Namatamai District, New Ireland by Fry et al. (2006: 129).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 5.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate oceans. Adults near reefs, juveniles offshore near floating objects, 1–160 m depth. Marine.
