Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 30 Sept. 2012.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Papua New Guinea, south to northern Australia. Pelagic in coastal waters near reefs, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
