Status at New Ireland. New record of this taxon from New Ireland; previously misidentified from St. Mathias as Plesiops nigricans (non Rüpell, 1828) by Duncker & Mohr (1929: 57), based on ZMH 11839.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 4.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Palau and Solomon Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Papua New Guinea. Secretive in crevices in coral reefs, 0–12 m depth. Marine.
