Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Kavieng, New Ireland as Belone ? incisa by Duncker & Mohr (1927: 126), based on ZMH 16179; record confirmed by Parin (1967: 30).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean east to Samoa, north to southern China, south to northern Australia. Near the surface over lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 0–2 m depth. Marine.
