Key to African species of Phlogis

1 Abdominal sternite III, pale. Aedeagus sharply turned dorsally at midlength in lateral view; with sub-apical lateral processes curved posteriorly, then anteriorly, uniform in width. Style with lateral margin distally concave; relatively narrow at base of apophysis. Larger, overall length male 7.4 mm, female 7.5 mm ................................ P. mirabilis Linnavuori

- Abdominal sternite III black, ( Fig. 3 ). Aedeagus broadly curved dorsally at midlength in lateral view ( Fig. 10a, b ); with subapical lateral processes curved ventrally ( Fig. 10a, b ), expanded from narrow base ( Fig. 10c, e ). Style with lateral margin distally relatively straight; broad at base of apophysis ( Fig. 10h , arrow). Smaller, overall length, male 6.6 mm ................................................................................................ P. kibalensis sp. nov.
