Type species: Hungarocypris madaraszi (Örley, 1886)

Diagnosis (modified after Meisch 2000): carapace large (length> 3 mm), laterally compressed, valves with strong calcified inner margin, marginal zone broad with pore canals, terminal segment of Mx1-palp short, spatula-shaped, T1 with a, b and d setae, basal segment of T2 with two setae (d1 and d2), CR with two posterior setae.
