Description: Length 10–102 mm. Unpigmented, darkish dorsally, pale ventrally. Setae lumbricine. Prostomium epilobous. Female pores paired, in 14. Microscolecine. Male pores paired in 17. Prostatic pores paired in 17 or 17 and 19. Clitellum annular. Spermathecae present, or absent. Gizzard various sizes: reduced or rudimentary. Dorsal blood vessel single. Holandric. Excretory system holoic with various bladder shapes. Calciferous glands absent. Typhlosole absent.

Notes: Two introduced species of this genus are recorded from RSA.
