Type Material. H o l o t y p e, A R G E N T I N A, Santiago del Estero, female, 1936, E.R. Wagner col. ( MNHN) .

Remarks. Xylocaris hirsutus differs from X. oculata by the anterior region of the pronotum with shallow punctures and short, sparse setae, the mesepisternum, mesosternum, lateral region of metasternum, and metepisternum with dense, whitish pubescence, the color pattern: head and ventral region brownish orange, pronotum and scutellum orange, pro- and mesofemora orange with brown apex and metafemora brown with orange base. In X. oculata , the surface of the pronotum is smooth, the ventral region lacks dense pubescence, and the head, prothorax, scutellum, ventral surface, and legs are black.
