Rare in the area, found in a single lake (A34) in Hunan. A littoral species associated with vegetation. The species was described in South America , presumed to be circumtropical ( Smirnov, 1996), but needs a revision. Common in the Oriental region ( Sinev 2014b). In China the species was recorded in Hubei, Hunan and Guangdong Provinces ( Ji et al. 2015). For descriptions, see Smirnov (1996); for descriptions of Oriental populations, see Sinev (2014b).
