Remarks. In France this is usually a montane species (all above 1000 m), both on Sor bus aucuparia and Cotoneaster , usually together with S. magdalenae . Known from the Alps, Pyrenees and the Massif Centrale, but also with one record from the coastal area ( Le Marchand 1929). A few specimens in MNHN from the Paris region appeared to be misidentified Stigmella tityrella and Ectoedemia occultella . One of the earliest Nepticulidae larvae, usually appearing in MayJune, with all mines vacated by July.
