Remarks. Ectoedemia albifasciella is a very common species in northern and central Europe, but in old literature it is often neglected and/or confused with E. subbimaculella . Adults are very similar to E. pubescivora and two other species (not known from France) in the albifasciella complex; the only difference is in the female genitalia. Leafmines are very similar to these as well, and to those of E. heringi . E. albifasciella occurs much earlier than heringi : from August to early October, heringi becomes active in October. We have excluded records of light­collected males because they cannot be separated from the following species.
