Type material. HOLOTYPE ♂, labelled: “ UZBEKISTAN, Samarkand, along river Zeravshan, 39°38'N, 67°04'E, 22.v.1989, M. Barták” ( CULSP). PARATYPES: UZBEKISTAN: 14♂, 7♀, same data as holotype (12♂, 6♀ in CULSP; 2♂, 1♀ in ZIN); 6♂, Chirchik, along river, 41°32'N, 69°38'E, 19.v.1989, M. Barták; 1♂, 3♀, Tashkent, along brook, 41°15'N, 69°28'E, 19.v.1989, M. Barták; 2♀, Zeravshan res., deciduous wood, 39°38'N, 67°08'E, 24.v.1989, M. Barták ( CULSP).

Diagnosis. Black species with 1 pair of vertical setae, both basal antennal segments yellow, postpedicel short, brown with paler base; mesoscutum microtrichose, katepisternum with lustrous spot on anterior half; legs yellow, tarsi of all legs more or less faintly brownish annulated, more distinctly on apical segments, mid tibia with long, dark, pointed apical spur, posteroventral setae on mid femur present; abdomen lustrous.

Description. Male. Head black, light grey microtrichose, face almost silvery, clypeus lustrous. Frons » 0.05 mm broad on lower part (as pedicel) and 0.09 mm broad on upper part (at level of anterior ocellus). Face » 0.04 mm broad at middle, strongly widening below. Gena lustrous, rather broad. Scape and pedicel yellow, postpedicel brown with somewhat paler base, stylus brown, postpedicel 1.7–2.2X longer than broad, stylus 2.4–3.3X longer than postpedicel. Clypeus lustrous, microtrichosity confined to extreme anterior margin. Palpus elongate-ovate, yellow (sometimes slightly dusky yellow), about half as long as proboscis, with long subterminal white seta and several other shorter setae. Ocellar setae pale, short » 0.07 mm long. One pair of short (» 0.12 mm) pale vertical setae widely separated (» 0.15 mm distance). Occiput sparsely covered with pale setae, longer on lower part. Proboscis brown, short. Thorax black, light grey microtrichose, katepisternum with median large lustrous spot in anterior half. All setae whitish yellow, rather short and sparse. Chaetotaxy: postpronotal seta as long as lower notopleural, inclinate; acrostichals rather broadly biserial and short (» 0.05 mm), 7–9 setae in row, on posterior part several additional setae on sides of prescutellar depression; dorsocentrals uniserial, subequally short or slightly longer, ending in 1–2 longer prescutellar pairs; notopleuron with 2 setae on posterior part (lower seta usually shorter than upper seta); 1 short postalar and 1 pair of scutellar setae (with additional outer pair of rather long setae). Wing clear, with pale veins. R4+5 very slightly bowed, M1 slightly S-shaped, at apex parallel with R4+5. Crossveins mostly narrowly separated. Cu almost perpendicular and slightly curved. Costal seta pale, short.

Squama yellow with yellow fringes, halter whitish yellow. Legs pale yellow (except usual dots on trochanters and knees), but tarsi of all legs more or less faintly brownish annulated, more distinctly on apical segments. All setae pale (except ventral spines on mid femur and tibia). Fore femur thickened on basal third, with row of posteroventral setae half as long as depth of femur. Fore tibia spindle-shaped dilated, 1.5X deeper in middle than hind tibia, short pale setose. Mid femur only slightly deeper than fore femur, with several pale, moderately long posteroventral setae. Mid tibia with long, black, sharply pointed apical spur. Hind legs thin, short setose. Abdomen blackishbrown, lustrous, only tergites 1–2 with narrow microtrichose fasciae; covered with sparse short, pale setae, longer on lateral and ventral parts of terminal segments. Genitalia ( Figs 31–33 View FIGURES 31 – 33 ) with right cercus long narrow digitiform, with 1 long apical seta, half as long as cercus; left cercus longer and mostly broader than right cercus but very narrow subapically and with pointed apex; left epandrial lamella ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 31 – 33 ) rather subtriangular, deeply concave ventrally, with row of several long setae along ventral margin on about apical half; right epandrial lamella ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31 – 33 ) subtriangular (lateral view), with row of several long subapical setae; right surstylus short, somewhat broadened. Female. Similar to male except as follows: fore legs slightly less thickened. Abdomen with less distinct microtrichose bands on tergites 1–2, last two segments microtrichose. Length: body 1.9–2.9 mm, wing 2.1–2.8 mm.

Etymology. The species specific name is derived from the country of origin ( Uzbekistan).

Distribution. Uzbekistan.

Remarks. The species described above is in most respects similar to P. stabilis (Collin) ; however, the latter species has larger postpedicel and narrower frons (postpedicel 2.3–2.7X longer than width of frons opposite of anterior ocellus in P. stabilis , but 1.2–1.4X longer in P. uzbekistanicus sp. nov.), male of P. stabilis has narrow microtrichose bands on all tergites and different genitalia.
