Geochus frontalis Broun 1893b: 1466 . Type locality: Maketu, Hunua Range.

Type Depository. BMNH: HT .

Distribution. New Zealand (AK).

Remarks. Broun based the description on a single specimen that we confirmed as the holotype. The location of the type locality is probably Te Maketu Falls, which is located west of the Hunua Ranges, near the present township of Ramarama. It is not the town of Maketu in the central Bay of Plenty.

We place this species into a species group with G. inaequalis .
