Basionym: Pleurothallis ephelis Luer (1976a: 416) View in CoL .

TYPE:— ECUADOR. Pastaza: epiphytic in tall forest 20 km east of Puyo , 1000 m, 28 Jul 1975, Luer et al. 479 (holotype: SEL!).

Distribution: — Ecuador.

Notes:— This Ecuadorian endemic is recognized by the greenish perianth tinged with purple, revolute margins of the sepals, narrow, long, acute teeth at the column apex, a pair of rounded calli at the base of the column foot and a trilobed lip with ovate, oblique and erect lateral lobes, midlobe ovate, disc with a longitudinal pair of lamellae that meet on the midlobe and then diverge forming a glenium-like cavity. Superficially, it is somewhat similar to M. eumeces Luer (1982: 36) and M. fimbriatus .
