Synonyms: Nyctalus ferrugineus Brehm 1827 ; Nyctalus maxima Fatio 1869 ; Nyctalus sicula Mina-Palumbo 1868 .
Distribution: W Europe to Urals, Caucasus, and Balkans, Asia Minor, Iran and Ust-Urt Plateau ( Kazakhstan), Morocco, Libya, possbily Algeria.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).
