Head: Yellow patch on mandible (except teeth), clypeus, triangular mark at base of supraclypeal area, paraocular area entirely to slightly above antennal socket then extended as narrow stripe along inner orbit almost to top of eye, patch on vertex extending to lower margin of gena; red median longitudinal stripe on clypeus, black on frons laterally almost to top of eye and across most of vertex; white pubescence on face; punctation fine on face; clypeus with apical margin arched; mandible with seven teeth, ventral tooth large, pointed, other teeth small, rounded; anterior tentorial pit on epistomal sulcus below intersection with subantennal sulcus; F1 longer than pedicel; inter-ocular distance longer than inter-antennal distance.

Mesosoma: Yellow spots on tegula, pronotal lobe, mesoscutum with inverted U-shaped mark medio-laterally, axilla, medially interrupted stripe along apical margin of mesoscutellum, sides of femora and longitudinal patch on tibiae dorsally; white pubescence on sides of mesosoma, metasoma, and legs; inner side of tarsi with ferruginous hairs; punctation coarse on mesosoma; posterior margin of mesoscutellum emarginated medially, overhanging metanotum; wings mostly light, dark fuscous towards apex; claws cleft; arolia absent.

Metasoma: Series of lateral and submedial yellow spots on T1–T5 not joined by transverse line, two spots on T6; punctation fine on terga; T6 apical margin with small tubercles, emarginate medially; scopa white, except on S6 black; white fasciae of short hairs beneath scopa absent.

Male. Body length 13.25 mm; light tangerine orange colour; similar to female except as follows: clypeus without median longitudinal red stripe, apical margin strongly arched; mandible 4 dentate; T6 with series of four yellowish white spots, with lateral spine; T7 deeply concave, pointed laterally, with median spine; sterna covered with long white pubescence; S6 with lateral spine. Genitalia with gonostylus short, with brush of long hairs, penis valve pointed distally; apodeme of gonocoxite valve and penis valve extended beyond genital base; penis valves widely separated basally; volsella projecting as lobe at apex of gonocoxite.

Single male and female collected in blue bowl trap during April.

Distribution. Southern India. Overall distribution unknown.

Material examined. INDIA: Karnataka: Bheemarayanagudi , 1♀, 13.iv.2013; 1♂, 17.iv.2013, Blue bowl, collected by Ambresh.

Comments. The identity of this species remains unclear. Two species are known from adjacent parts of India, A. ordinatum Smith , type locality “Bombay Presidency” and A. longstaffi Mavromoustakis , type locality Matheran, Maharashtra. The present material does not appear to match descriptions of either and may represent an undescribed species, but without additional material and study of the types of A. ordinatum and A. longstaffi no such decision can be made.
