“Habitat in Europa media.” RCN: 2739, 2775.

Lectotype (Jarvis & McClintock in Taxon 39: 518. 1990): Herb. Linn. No. 498.46 (LINN).

Generitype of Erica Linnaeus.

Current name: Erica cinerea L. (Ericaceae).

Note: Erica cinerea, with the type designated by Jarvis & McClintock, was proposed as conserved type of the genus by Jarvis (in Taxon 41: 572. 1992).
