Type Locality: Chile, Magallanes, Bahia de San Gregorio.

Vernacular Names: Magellanic Tuco-tuco.

Subspecies Ctenomys magellanicus subsp. fueginus Philippi 1880

Subspecies Ctenomys magellanicus subsp. osgoodi Allen 1905

Distribution: Extreme S Chile and S Argentina.

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable; reduced in numbers by sheep grazing.

Discussion: Osgood (1943) included fodax but see coments under that taxon. Karyotype has 2n=34-36 and FN=64 ( Gallardo, 1991).
