Remarks: Hobbs (1966: 67) remarked that A. bidentata and A. heterodonta may not be distinct, yet cautioned that more thorough sampling of the respective ranges of the two species is necessary to make this determination. Synonymization of A. heterodonta [in part] with A. bidentata occurred in Hobbs Jr. (1971: 29, 31); A. heterodonta is thought not to occur south of the Cordillera Volcánica Transversal.
