The holotype is deposited in NMPC (ex coll. V. Balthasar):
HOLOTYPE (unsexed specimen): ‘Hoa - Binh ( Tonkin) / (A. de Cooman) / Coll. J. Clermont [p] // Typus [p, red label, black margin]’.
Current status. Valid species.
Remark. JANSSENS (1953) synonymized Oniticellus freyi with O. tesselatus Harold, 1879 .
Later on, BALTHASAR (1963c) raised it back as a valid species.
