TYPE LOCALITY: Nicaragua, Chinandega, Realejo .
DISTRIBUTION: Costa Rica to Guerrero, Morelos, and Tlaxcala ( Mexico). Colima, Jalisco ( Mexico)(WDW).
COMMENT: Originally considered a subspecies of soricina ; see Jones and Carter, 1976:14. Includes morenoi; see Villa, 1966, Inst. Biol. Univ. Nac. Auton. Mexico, 491 pp. Includes alticola Davis, 1944, by synonymy; see Webster and Jones, 1980, Occas. Pap. Mus. Texas Tech Univ., 71:4.
