TYPE LOCALITY: South Africa, Port Natal (= Durban) .

DISTRIBUTION: Senegal and Sierra Leone east to Somalia and S. Yemen and south to South Africa and Namibia.

COMMENT: Includes planirostris , colias, herero, and pondoensis (see Robbins et al., in press). Placed in leucogaster by Koopman, 1975, Bull. Amer. Mus. Nat. Hist., 154:414-416 (as nigrita ) and Koopman et al., 1978, Amer. Mus. Novit., 2643:4-5; but see also Schlitter, et al., 1980, Ann. Transvaal Mus., 32:231-239.
