Type:— CHINA. Chongqing (Sichuan oriental): Chengkou Xian (Tchen-Kéou-Tin district), s.d., Farges s.n. (lectotype designated here: P00780744 , image!; isolectotype P00780745 , image!) .

Notes:—When publishing Impatiens trigonosepala, Hooker cited two duplicates of the collection R. P. Farges in Herb. Mus. Paris, none of which was designated as the holotype. Both the specimens bear illustration by Hooker and are lacking fruits. The specimen with barcode no. P 00780745 lacks intact flowers. The specimen at P with barcode no. P 00780744 is designated here as lectotype, it agrees well with the protologue and bears leaves, floral buds, mature flowers, dissected floral parts pasted on a paper, Hooker’s annotation as “ I. trigonosepala Hk.f. ”, an illustration by J.D. Hooker accompanied by his determination.
