Type series: Holotype: Male, Yingjiang County, Yunnan Province, pool, 21 July 2002, leg. Guo Jianjun, altitude, 1300m. Paratype: One female, the same data as the holotype. All were dissected and slide-mounted.

Diagnosis Genital plates of male separated and fused with genital sclerites, V1 close and anterior to V 3 in male, three pairs of large acetabula with sinuate edge, lots of fine setae (one hundred and nine in male, and forty one in female) around acetabula on the genital flaps.

Description Male Body soft and smooth, 770 in length, 579 in width; dorsum with a pair of anterior platelets and a single moderated posterior plate, which 93 in length, 43 in width; A1 located on anterior end of body, O1 posterior to A1, A2 between separated lateral-eyes, O2 located inner-anterior D2; coxae occupying more half of the ventral surface; CxI separated but close to each other, ACG with well developed posterior apodemes, ACG and PCG separated; E4 large with fine seta, locating on anterior CxIII, confined to a rightangle area formed by prolongation of the suture line between CxIII and CxIV; medial margins of CxIII pointed with moderated secondary sclerotization; distance between CxIII median angles (including the secondary sclerotization) 173; V1 close and anterior to V3; genital plates separated both ends, connecting with genital sclerites, 171 in length and 198 in width; pregenital sclerite fused with small part of genital plates, prstgential sclerite stretched, partly fused with genital plates; three pairs of genital acetabula, these somewhat round in shape with sinuate edge and occupying most of the surface of the genital plates; plates with setae (more than one hundred) scattered around acetabula; chelicera as shown in Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 -H, 273 in length, chelicera claw 82 in length; proportions and chaetotaxy of palp as shown in Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 -F; ventral side of P-II with a long and slender seta tubercle (23 in length) bearing a short spine-like seta (11 in length), ventral side of P-IV with two homomorphic hair-like setae and three fine setae; dorsal lengths of P-I to P-V: 25, 105, 60, 153, 50. I-L-5 with two ventral long distal setae; ventral side of IV-L-3 with four strong and pinnate ventral setae in a row; IV-L-6 with five strong and pinnate setae in a row, and a sub-terminal seta 131 in length; claw with one slender dorsal clawlet and one ventral thick clawlet; dorsal lengths of I-L-3 to 6: 104, 125, 126, 119; dorsal lengths of IV-L-3 to 6: 131, 179, 204, 160; III-L-4 with 2, III-L-5 with 4, IV-L-4 with 3 and IV-L-5 with 6 swimming hairs.

Female Body soft and smooth, 586 in length, 521 in width; the shape of dorsum and coxae similar to male; genital plates (including pregenital sclerite) 207 in length and 190 in width; three pairs of genital acetabula, these somewhat round in shape with sinuate edge and occupying most of the surface of the genital plates; plates with setae (more than forty) scattered around acetabula; V1 separates from and anterior to V3; dorsal lengths of P-I to P-V: 23, 104, 103, 161, 53; dorsal lengths of I-L-3 to 6: 104, 121, 130, 106; dorsal lengths of IV-L-3 to 6: 149, 201, 129, 200; III-L-4 with 3, III-L-5 with 4, IV-L-4 with 4 and IV-L-5 with 5 swimming hairs.

Remarks Three species, Limnesia lembangensis Piersig, 1906 , Limnesia undulata ( Müller, 1776) , Limnesia maculata ( Müller, 1776) , with P-II setal tubercle bearing short peg-like seta have been reported from China. The combination of three pairs of large acetabula with sinuate edge, V1 close and anterior to V 3 in male, lots of fine seta (more than one hundred in male, and more than forty one in female) around acetabula on the genital flaps, the shape and position of genital sclerites and separated genital plates of male will easily distinguish the present species from the known species in the subgenus Limnesia .

Etymology Named after genital flaps with lots of fine setae.
