Calvittacus gen. nov.

Type species: Calvittacus regiae sp. nov.

Diagnosis

Body fusiform; prodorsal shield with frontal lobe; scapular tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, setae directed mediad; all coxal setae present; legs with usual setae; dorsal opisthosoma with several broad dorsal annuli, each a thickened rectangular band, all forming a slight furrow, ventral opisthosoma with microtuberculate annuli, opisthosoma with all usual setae; empodium entire.

Etymology

The genus designation is derived from the Cal and the generic name Vittacus Keifer (Keifer, 1969) , to which the new genus is the most similar.

Note

The new taxon is assigned to Eriophyoidea, Eriophyidae , Phyllocoptinae , Phyllocoptini . The new genus is similar to Vittacus Keifer, 1969 (in the Anthocoptini ), but can be differentiated by the scapular tubercles ahead of rear shield margin and setae directed mediad (scapular tubercles on rear shield margin and setae directed posteriorly in Vittacus ). The new genus is also close to Phyllocoptruta Keifer, 1938 , but can be differentiated by dorsal opisthosoma with thickened bands (dorsal opisthosoma with normal annuli in Phyllocoptruta ).
