Sphaerosyllis boeroi Musco, Çinar & Giangrande, 2005 View in CoL
Sphaerosyllis boeroi Musco, Çinar & Giangrande, 2005: 162 View in CoL , figs. 1–2.
Material examined. INFUECO stations: BC11 0611, 1 specimen, 719 m depth; BC17 0611, 1 specimen, 833 m depth; BC4 0710, 1 specimen, 85 m depth; BC8 0710, 1 specimen, 87 m depth.
Remarks. The specimens studied coincide in their characteristics with the original description of the species (Musco et al. 2005; Faulwetter et al. 2011). One specimen is a male epitoke, with no apparent modifications and 38 chaetigers, the gametes collapse the coelomic cavity between the chaetigers 13–33. It has well developed fibrillar parapodial glands; chaetae and aciculae are identical to those described in the original description (Musco et al. 2005).
Habitat. Common in different substrata from 5 to 833 m depth. In sciaphilous environments of caves, coralligenous bottoms and meadows of Caulerpa and Posidonia .
Distribution. Until now, only know from the Mediterranean Sea (coasts of Italy and Cyprus) (Musco et al. 2005). The species is herein recorded for the first time outside the Mediterranean Sea; Amanay and Banquete Banks (off Fuerteventura).
