Remarks. The genus Palposyllis was described by Hartmann-Schröder (1977) and was considered to belong to the subfamily Eusyllinae ( San Martín & Aguirrezabalaga 1988; San Martín 2003). However, phylogenetic studies of the Syllidae based on morphological data could not assign the genus to any known subfamily, thus so far considered as incertae sedis ( Aguado & San Martín 2009). The species is common, but with low population densities in subtidal sand Banks of the Canary Islands.

Habitat. From subtidal sandbanks to 856 m depth, from coarse to muddy sand.

Distribution. All records of this species correspond to the Eastern Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, from Brittany to Canary Islands ( San Martín & Aguirrezabalaga 1988; San Martín 2003; Núñez et al. 2005).
