Grandjean, who created the genus Aphelacarus , designated Parhypochthonius acarinus [= Aphelacarus acarinus ] as the type. According to the classification recently proposed by him (Grandjean, 1954a) the genus is the single representative of the subfamily Aphelacarinae .
