Type Locality: Nicaragua, Matagalpa Dept., Matagalpa.
Vernacular Names: Nicaraguan Woodrat.
Distribution: NW Nicaragua, Honduras.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Neotoma , mexicana species group ( sensu Edwards and Bradley, 2002 b ). Hall (1981) suggested that chrysomelas is conspecific with N. mexicana , a proposal that should be considered apropos of a much needed revision of the latter.
