Type:— PAPUA NEW GUINEA: East Sepik Province ('Sepikgebiet'): Lordberg (ca. 4°52'S, 142°31'E), mossy montane forest, 1000 m, 1 December 1912, Ledermann 9941 (holotype B, lost; lectotype [designated by Middleton 2000: 94] L; isolectotype WRSL). Alyxia pugio Markgraf (1927: 182) View in CoL is a rarely-seen vine historically recorded from two localities: Lordberg (at the headwaters of the April River; Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 : F), and Mt. Bosavi of Southern Highlands Province ( Middleton 2000, 2007; Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 : G). The latest collection site ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 : D) is from limestone environments 45 km S of Lordberg and 140 km N of Mt. Bosavi.
