Diagnosis. Daternomina warrook can be separated from all other species in the genus by the distinctive ventro-basal projection on the superior appendages and the pair of plate-like structures ventro-lateral to phallus.

Description. Head, body and wings brown; wings similar to D. irrorata ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 ), except forewing fork 2 nygma absent. Forewing length about 3.1–3.2 times width: male 3.4–3.5 mm. Forewing fork 2 relatively long, sessile, length about 1.4–1.5 times length of fork 3; fork 3 relatively long, length about 4.9–6.5 times length footstalk, footstalk length about 0.8–1.0 times length cross-vein m; r-m and m displaced at fork 3 by about 1.7 times length cross-vein m; fork 4 length similar to fork 3; fork 5 long, about 1.8 times length of fork 4. Hindwing length about 3.3 times width; fork 2 sessile, length about 1.5–1.6 times length of fork 3.

Male. Tergum X membranous, tapered to a point, distally ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 40–45 ). Superior appendages slightly laterally compressed; in lateral view, branched, ventral branch a lot smaller than main dorsal branch ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 40–45 ); in dorsal view, slender, length about 7 times width, with stout spines on inner surface ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 40–45 ). Phallus generally tubelike; with distinctive pair of plate-like structures ventro-lateral to phallus ( Figs 40–42 View FIGURES 40–45 ); with a single, down curved process (phallic guide) arising from near the base of the inferior appendages ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 40–45 ). Inferior appendages in ventral view, fused basally, paired apices separated by a deep U-shaped mesal split ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 40–45 ); in lateral view, sub-triangular, broad basally, tapered distally ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 40–45 ).

Female. Unknown.

Holotype male: (specimen CT-442 figured), New South Wales, Wilson R., NW of Wauchope, 31°14'S, 152°34'E, 30 Oct 1981, Wells and Carter ( NMV, T-19584). GoogleMaps

Etymology. Warrook- New South Wales Aboriginal word for flat (plate-like structures ventro-lateral to phallus).

Remarks. Only one male of Daternomina warrook has been collected from the type locality in north-eastern New South Wales (latitude 31°14'S).
