Diagnosis. Ecnomina lamingtonensis can be separated from all other species in the genus by the distinctive superior appendages, which are slender and upturned in the distal third.

Description. Head, body and wings light brown; wings similar to E. scutica ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–6 ) and E. legula ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Forewing length about 2.8 times width: male 6.0– 6.2 mm. Forewing fork 2 relatively long, sessile, nygma present, length about 1.1–1.2 times length of fork 3; fork 3 relatively long, with very short footstalk, length fork at least ten times length footstalk, footstalk length 0.2–0.3 times length cross-vein m, r-m and m not contiguous at fork 3 by about 1.5 times length cross-vein m; fork 4 present, similar length to fork 3; fork 5 long, length about 1.8 times length of fork 4. Hindwing length about 2.7 times width, fork 2 sessile, length about 1.2–1.3 times length of fork 3.

Male. Tergum X membranous, with two slender upturned processes disto-laterally. Superior appendages broad basally, slender and upturned in distal third ( Figs 66, 68 View FIGURES 63–68 ). Phallus generally tube-like; with a single, robust, slightly curved robust process (phallic guide) arising from near the base of the inferior appendages ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 63–68 ). Inferior appendages dorso-ventrally compressed; in ventral view, fused, broad, sub quadrate, length about 0.7 times width, with a small central notch distally ( Fig. 67 View FIGURES 63–68 ); in lateral view, robust, rounded distally ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 63–68 ).

Female. Unknown.
