Type locality.
"Prope Cehejin Prov. Murcia" [near Cehegín, prov. Murcia], Spain.
Remarks.
The species was described as " Melanopsis obesa Guirao mss.". Although Brot (1868) denoted “(Guirao)” after the description of the species as well, it is clear from the text that Brot described it. Junior homonym of Melanopsis obesa Gassies, 1856. Bourguignat (1884) introduced Melanopsis guiraoi as replacement name.
