Distribution in Bulgaria: Ropotamo [1]; Gramatikovo (Burgas Region) [2]; Petrich, Gotse Delchev [3]; Stara Zagora, Bogomilovo (Stara Zagora Region), Bachkovo (Plovdiv Region) [4]; Belogradchik, Berkovitsa, Varshets, Vratsa, Godech, Botevgrad, Mirkovo (Sofia Region), Teteven, Elena, Troyan monastery, Karlovo, Sushica (Veliko Tarnovo Region), Gabrovo, Maglizh, Shipka (Stara Zagora Region), Tazha, Gaitani, Gradets (Sliven Region) [5]; Nova Cherna (Silistra Region) [6].

Lice of Philopterus identified to the generic level only were reported from Acrocephalus palustris (Bechstein) , Alauda arvensis L., Anthus pratensis (L.)*, A. trivialis (L.), Emberiza hortulana L. Fringilla coelebs L., Hirundo rustica L., Iduna pallida (Hemprich & Ehrenberg) *, Lanius minor Gmelin , Luscinia megarhynchos (Brehm) *, Muscicapa striata (Pallas) , Phylloscopus sibilatrix (Bechstein) , Ptyonoprogne rupestris (Scopoli) *, Saxicola torquata (L.)*, Sitta europaea L., Tachymarptis melba (L.) and Turdus torquatus L. (see Balát, 1958; Touleshkov, 1961a, 1964a, 1974). The reported lice of the genus Philopterus are the first record of a louse species from Iduna pallida (Hemprich & Ehrenberg) .
