Type species: Acanthodaphne sabellii Bonfitto and Morassi, 2006 , by original designation; Recent, Gulf of Aden .

Remarks.—This genus of deep-water raphitomids is known from a few extant species from the Indian and West Pacific Oceans; its fossil record is considered to include Puha pusula Laws, 1947 , from the Lower Miocene of New Zealand, and possibly Pseudoinquisitor ? cf. P.? pulchra ( Schepman, 1913) reported by MacNeil (1960) from the Middle Miocene of Okinawa, Japan ( Bonfitto and Morassi 2006; Morassi and Bonfitto 2010).
