Lectotype ( Vázquez in Brittonia 46: 5. 1994): [icon] " Magnolia  , foliis lanceolatis persistentibus, caule erecto arboreo" in Miller, Fig. Pl. Gard. Dict. 2: 115, t. 172. 1757.

Current name: Magnolia grandiflora L.  ( Magnoliaceae  ).

Note: Tobe (in Hunt, Magnolias: 184. 1998) provides an illustration of the lectotype, and one (p. 185) of Catesby’s t. 61. Jarvis (in Symb. Bot. Upsal. 33(3): 26, f. 1. 2005) also reproduces the lectotype.
