Description. Female. Body length about 1.0 mm. Body dark brown with green or blue sheen; antenna ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 32 − 36. 32 − 36 ) generally yellow, but pedicle dorsally and clava apically dark brownish; fore wing ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 32 − 36. 32 − 36 ) hyaline, but about apical 1/3 slightly infuscate; legs ( Figs 34−36 View FIGURES 32 − 36. 32 − 36 ) yellowish, hind femur generally dark brown, mid and hind coxae often yellow, rarely brownish-yellow, mid tibia basally rarely marked with dark brown.

Head. Frontovertex nearly 1/3 head width; ocelli arranged in an angle of about 60º, posterior ocelli nearly touching inner eye margin, separated from occipital margin by 3 × its own diameter; antennal scape about 4 × as long as broad; pedicel about as long as combined length of F1−F3; F1−F3 slightly transverse, F4 sometimes also transverse or subquadrate similar to F4 and F5; mandible quadridentate ( Hayat et al. 1975, fig. 205).

Thorax. Fore wing about 2.5 × as long as broad; marginal vein long, nearly 3 × as long as broad; postmarginal vein about 1/3 as long as marginal vein; stigmal vein about half as long as marginal vein ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 32 − 36. 32 − 36 ).

Gaster. Ovipositor sheaths very slightly exserted, by about 1/7 gaster length.

Relative measurements. MT 48, OL 80, GL 22.

Male. Unknown.

Hosts. Aspidiella hartii (Cockerell) , Aspidiella sacchari (Cockerell) , Aulacaspis takarai (Takahashi) , Aulacaspis tegalensis (Zehntner) , Duplachionaspis phragmitidis (Borchsenius) , Duplachionaspis sp., Lepidosaphes sp., Melanaspis glomerata (Green) ( Williams 1970; Hayat et al. 1975; Hayat 1986; Trjapitzin 1989; Palaniswami 1991; Noyes & Hayat 1994; Noyes 2002).

Distribution. Barbados, China (new record), Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, India, Indonesia, Japan, Madagascar, Mauritius, Pakistan, St Christopher (Kitts) & Nevis, St. Vincent, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkmenistan, USA ( Hayat 1986; Trjapitzin 1989; Noyes 2002; Trjapitzin et al. 2004).

Type material examined. GRENADA: Baltharzar (windward side), H.H. Smith (lectotype Ψ of A. moderatus , BMNH). JAPAN: Okinawa, Muyako Is., ex. Aulacaspis takarai , 5.i.1962, coll. T. Miyara (2 ΨΨ paratypes of A. miyarai , BMNH). INDIA: Gulbarga, Mysore, 18.xi.1967, ex. Duplachionaspis ? sp., on Dichanthium annulatum, M. Hayat (holotype Ψ of A. mysorensis , BMNH).

Non-type material examined. CHINA: Fujian, Taining, 20.xi.2008, coll. F. Yuan (1 Ψ). Guangxi, Daxin, 30.iii.1998, C.D. Zhu (1 Ψ). Hainan, Bawang Ling, 12.v.2007, L. Ding (2 ΨΨ); Five Finger Mt., 12.v.2007, Y.Z. Zhang (1 Ψ); Haikou, 23.v.2007, L. Ding (2 ΨΨ).

Comments. Noyes (1979) noted there is some variation in the dimensions of F4 and coloration of coxae, which are not repeated here.
