sinistrorsa

Ampullaria globosa subvar . sinistrorsa Nevill, 1885: 2. Unavailable name: infrasubspecific (Code, Art. 1.3.4).

Remarks. Nevill (1877: 2) referred to a single “reversed” specimen in the Indian Museum (NZSI) from the Botanical Gardens, Calcutta, but did not name it. Nevill (1885: 2) indicated in addition to this specimen a specimen of unknown location, though labelled “ Mauritius ”, implying that this locality was in error. Prashad (1925: 73, pl. 13, figs. 10, 11) illustrated these two sinistral shells but treated them as “sinistral abnormalities of the typical P. globosa ”. NZSI 2396 appears to be the specimen from Calcutta; the other was not found in 2014.

Ampullaria globosa View in CoL carinata subvar . sinistrorsa Nevill, 1885: 3. Unavailable name: infrasubspecific (Code, Art. 1.3.4).

Remarks. Nevill (1885: 3) listed a single specimen in the Indian Museum; not found in NZSI in 2014. Listed as a variety of globosa Swainson by G.B. Sowerby III (1910: 59) and Preston (1915: 97) but neither act made it available as it was not adopted as the valid name of a species or subspecies (Code, Art. 45.6.4.1).
