Diagnosis. Libythea lepita formosana is similar in appearance to the other subspecies of L. lepita , but can be distinguished because its orange forewing marks are small compared to that of L. l. lepita and L. l. amamiana.

Distribution. Taiwan.
Remarks. Only thirteen of the 235 specimens that were examined in the present study were female. Female specimens are quite rare in collections, and this may be due to the fact that they rarely puddle on the ground and are generally less active than males (Kawahara pers. obs.).
