Subgenus Spilodia Rivalier, 1961

Lophyra (Spilodia) striolata dorsolineolata ( Chevrolat, 1845)

First listed by Schaum (1860), who commented this species was not uncommon in Hong Kong. Chevrolat described the subspecies dorsolineolata as Cicindela dorsolineolata from a specimen originating in the environs of Macao prior to 1845 and it is listed for Hong Kong by Chaudoir (1865). However both Puchkov & Matalin (2003) and Shook & Wiesner (2006) list Lophyra striolata taliensis ( Fairmaire 1886) and not C. dorsolineata as occurring here. Shook & Wiesner further comment "Subspecies of striolata are in need of revision. It may be that ssp. dorsolineata represents this species in China (as stated for Taiwan by Wiesner et al. (2002), whereas ssp. striolata , taliensis and tenuiscripta (Fleuriaux, 1893) are individual forms only in their representative areas". Material: 1 ex. W.T., 7.v.06; Sight record W.T., 9.v.08; 1 ex. Locally this species is quite variable in size and, to a lesser extent in its markings. It is fairly common in both open hillsides and more vegetated areas. Mell (1931) noted this subspecies is only to be found in the coastal regions of Guangdong province. It can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and readily flies.

Mandl (1981), Wiesner (1992), Puchkov & Matalin (2003) and Shook & Wiesner (2006) list this subspecies for Hong Kong, but see note under Lophyra striolata dorsolineolata ( Chevrolat 1845) .

Lophyra (Spilodia) striolata striolata (Illiger, 1800)

Hua (2002) lists this subspecies for Hong Kong. Gestro (1889) and Lee & Winney (1981) list Cicindela striolata Illiger 1800 , for Hong Kong.
