Chaudoir described this species from two Hong Kong specimens, one sent to him by M. Dohrn, and the other from the Lafert collection. Also listed for Hong Kong by Harold (1868), Mroczkowski (1957), Jedlièka, (1962), Hua (2002), Bousquet (2003c) and Kirschenhofer (2007).
