Key to Caucasus species of Drymeia Meigen View in CoL View at ENA

1 Facial edge not or only a little projecting forward beyond the level of the profrons when the head is viewed in profile ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 22–25 ). Scutellum on the lateral margins, below the level of the strong setae, with 5–10 setulae in 1–2 rows. ♂: prealar seta absent or short, shorter than 2nd notopleural seta (present in some D. vicana View in CoL ). ♀: hind tibia without a posteroventral apical seta..... 2

- Facial edge projecting forward far beyond the level of the profrons when the head is viewed in profile ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 12–16 ). Scutellum bare on lateral margins, but with a row of setulae on the ventral surface in D. sororcula View in CoL . ♂: prealar seta present and strong. ♀: hind tibia with a posteroventral apical seta..................................................................... 4

2 Anepimeron setulose. Katepimeron with a few short setulae. (♂ with the tip of the abdomen forming a “basket”, with numerous dense setae on the apical margin of tergite 5 and on subsequent tergites, enclosing the genital capsule; mid femur without posteroventral setae except for a group of fine curled setae at base, some longer than femoral depth; hind femur with a row of anteroventral setae in apical half but without posteroventrals except at base).................... D. caucasica (Schnabl) View in CoL

- Anepimeron bare. Katepimeron bare...................................................................... 3

3 Eyes densely haired, less conspicuously so in female. ♂: fore leg with no posteroventral setulae at apex of tarsomere 1; mid femur with complete rows of fine anteroventral and posteroventral setae, the posteroventrals longer; hind femur with complete rows of anteroventral and posteroventral setae................................................. D. vicana (Harris) View in CoL

- Eyes bare. ♂: fore tarsomere 1 with several long posteroventral setulae near apex; mid femur without posteroventral setae, and without anteroventrals except for some long, bent setae on basal quarter and some long anterior setae above them ( Figs 4–5 View FIGURES 3–4 View FIGURES 5–7 ); hind femur with anteroventral setae in apical half but without posteroventrals..................... D. setibasis (Huckett) View in CoL

4 Parafacial very broad, at middle almost twice as wide as width of postpedicel ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 12–16 ). Face with a prominent snout between the base of the antennae. (3 postsutural dorsocentrals.) ♂: hind tibia with a posteroventral apical seta, but with no prolongation of the apex of the tibia to form a short spur ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12–16 ). (♂ with complete rows of anteroventral and posteroventral setae on mid femur and hind femur, these rows also complete but sparser in the ♀)............................ D. fratercula View in CoL sp.nov.

- Parafacial narrower, at middle equal to width of postpedicel ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33–35 ). Face without a snout between the antennae. ♂: hind tibia without a posteroventral apical seta, but with a ventral spur-like prolongation of the apex of the tibia................... 5

5 4 postsutural dorsocentral setae. Scutellum bare on ventral surface.Anepimeron always bare. ♂: mid femur with the anteroventral setae restricted to a group of 5–6 setae in apical fifth, and with posteroventral setae in basal two-thirds ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 5–7 ); hind femur with a complete row of anteroventrals, but with no posteroventrals. ♀: parafacial with a shining patch at the level of antennal insertion; mid femur with a few posteroventral setae in basal half, and with 2–3 anteroventrals before apex and, sometimes, a further seta near base of femur ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 5–7 ); hind femur with a complete anteroventral row as in ♂ ....... D. fasciculata (Stein) View in CoL

- 3 postsutural dorsocentral setae. Scutellum with several strong setulae on ventral surface.Anepimeron often with a few setulae. ♂: mid and hind femora each with complete rows of anteroventral and posteroventral setae. ♀: parafacial without a shining patch in upper part; mid femur without posteroventral setae, on anteroventral surface with 1 seta near base and 2 very short, almost spinulose setae just before apex; hind femur with a sparse row of anteroventrals.............. D. sororcula View in CoL sp.nov.
