Dendrobaena retrosella sp. nov.

Holotype. HNHM /15914 adult. No. 15, Trikala County, Lakmos Mts., Chaliki, open torrent and brook, and rocky subalpine grassland N of the village, 1225m, N39°41.908’ E21°11.037’, leg. J. Kontschán, D. Murányi, T. Szederjesi, Zs. Ujvári, 0 9.0 5.2011.

Paratype. HNHM /15915 one adult ex., locality and date same as that of the holotype.

Derivatio nominis. From Latin (retro = backward, sella = saddle), referring to the backward displaced position of the clitellum.

Diagnosis. Length 35–37 mm, diameter 3 mm, setae distant. Pigmentation red-violet. First dorsal pores 5/6. Clitellum on 29–36, tubercles 31–1/n34. Male pore on 15, large. Nephridial pores regularly alternate between b and above d. Three pairs of vesicles in 9, 11, 12; spermathecae 9/10–10/ 11 in d. Calciferous glands with well-developed diverticula in 11, 12. Hearts in segments 7–10, nephridial bladders sausage-shaped.

External characters. Holotype 35 mm long and 3 mm wide; number of segments 107. Paratype 37 mm long and 3 mm wide; number of segments 145. Colour red-violet, especially dark on dorsum. Prostomium epilobous ½ closed. First dorsal pore in intersegmental furrow 5/6. Setae distant. Setal arrangement behind clitellum: aa: ab: bc: cd: dd = 1.3:1:1.2:1.1:2.4. Male pore large on 15, between setae b–c, surrounded by a glandular crescent. Nephridial pores regularly alternate between setal line b and above d. Clitellum on segments 29–36, tubercula pubertatis on segments 31–1/n 34 ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ). Genital papillae surround setae a, b on segments 9, 28.

Internal characters. All septa membraneous. Testes and funnels free, paired in segments 10–11. Seminal vesicles present in 9, 11 and 12, small in segment 9. Spermathecae two pairs, clearly stalked in 9/10, 10/11 with external openings in setal line d. Calciferous glands with well-developed diverticula in 11, 12. Paired hearts in segments 7–10. Nephridial bladders simple, sausage-shaped. Crop in segments 15–16, and gizzard in segments 17–18. Typhosolis simple, lamelliform. Longitudinal muscle layer of pinnate type.

Remarks. The main characteristic of the new species is the backward shift of the clitellum. The same phenomenon can be observed in three other Greek Dendrobaena species, D. epirotica Zicsi & Michalis, 1993 , D. pindonensis Zicsi & Michalis, 1993 and D. mahnerti Zicsi, 1974 , as well as in the Turkish D. bruna Omodeo & Rota, 1989 and in D. zicsii Karaman, 1973 described from Serbia. The differences between the above-mentioned species are summarized in Table 2 View TABLE 2 .
